Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned the recent attack on Yargoje village in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, which resulted in numerous deaths and the kidnapping of women and children.
In addition to this tragedy, Atiku addressed the ambush of a police armored personnel carrier by bandits in Gidan Tofa and Dan Nakwabo villages. This attack resulted in the deaths of four police officers and two members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps.
Atiku expressed deep concern over the increasing frequency of such violent incidents. “Most worrisome to me is that these acts of banditry and terrorism have become routine, with the government seemingly helpless and nonchalant about it despite the enormous annual budget for defence,” he stated.
Offering his condolences to the families of the victims, Atiku reiterated his call for the government to prioritize its fundamental responsibility of safeguarding the lives and property of its citizens.
