The Nigeria Police Force, Lagos State Command, denied any involvement in an operation where residents were allegedly packed and transported to Osun State. Our reporters earlier exclusively reported on the incident, detailing how the police, in conjunction with the Lagos State Task Force, reportedly moved hundreds of residents and young people from the streets of the state to Osun State.
A youth, taken by the Nigerian policemen from his workplace on Friday afternoon, recounted the ordeal, stating that law enforcement agents gathered young people from Ajah, TBS, and Island areas of the state before relocating them to a forest in Ilesha town, Osun State, using about five luxurious buses.
In response, the state command spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, issued a press statement asserting that the force was not aware of such an operation. The statement clarified that the Lagos State Police Command conducts raids of black spots periodically to prevent and detect crime, ensuring that only culpable suspects are arraigned in courts after thorough screening. The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Adegoke Fayoade, assured the public of the command’s commitment to prioritize their safety and security.
