Vice-President Kashim Shettima has altered his itinerary, opting to return to Nigeria, thus cancelling his scheduled trip to the USA for the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit in Dallas, Texas.
Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media & Communications, stated on Monday that Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will now stand in for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Summit in Dallas, Texas.
According to the presidential aide, Vice President Shettima’s change of plans was prompted by a technical issue with his aircraft, necessitating a detour upon the advice of the Presidential Air Fleet.
Additionally, the statement assured that Vice President Shettima will continue to fulfill his other national duties.
The statement further highlighted that the high-profile summit, set to take place at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, will assemble political and business leaders from across Africa, the United States, and other regions.
