
The Nigerian Army reported that its troops, in collaboration with the Hybrid Force and the Civilian Joint Task Force, killed seven terrorists in Borno State during counter-terrorism operations on Saturday.
According to a military statement, the troops, acting on credible intelligence about the terrorists’ movements, laid an ambush around the Lawanti area. In the ensuing shootout, six terrorists were neutralized. The troops recovered one General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) and 40 rounds of 7.62 x 51 mm belted ammunition after overpowering the terrorists.
In a separate operation, troops, guided by actionable intelligence, set up an ambush at suspected terrorists’ crossing points near Shetimari, Sabon-Gari, and the Amarwa Bulamari Exchange Point in Bama Local Government Area. They engaged the terrorists, killing one, while the others fled. The troops are pursuing the fleeing terrorists.
The statement emphasized that troop morale remains high as they continue to combat terrorism and ensure regional safety and security. It also urged the public to cooperate with the troops as they work to protect citizens against the nation’s adversaries.
