A guest died during a birthday celebration in the Ijora Badia area of Lagos State, leading to the arrest of the host, Salisu Aishat, and seven others. The incident occurred at Aishat’s birthday party on Olayemi Street, where the victim was found unconscious with a head wound.
The gathering was initially festive until the victim was discovered lying unconscious on the floor. Upon closer inspection, attendees noticed a head wound, raising suspicions of foul play. A source, speaking anonymously, indicated that a fight had broken out during the party, potentially leading to the victim’s injury.
The case was reported to the Ijora Badia Division, prompting the police to investigate the scene. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed that the incident occurred around 9:10 pm on April 16, 2024. A concerned community member had alerted the police.
Hundeyin stated, “The DPO led his patrol team to the scene, and the celebrant, Salisu Aishat, along with seven others, were arrested. A wound was discovered on the head of the corpse.” The victim’s body was taken to the Mainland Hospital morgue in Yaba for preservation and autopsy, and the investigation is ongoing.
