According to Benjamin Hundeyin, the police spokesperson in Lagos State, the singer was apprehended on Tuesday in the Abule Egba region of Lagos. Hundeyin disclosed that Portable was taken into custody in the Abule Egba locality of Lagos on Tuesday. It was reported that the artist, known for the hit song ‘Zazoo Zeh’, purportedly acquired a vehicle valued at ₦27 million but only remitted ₦13 million. In a widely circulated video, Portable was observed scaling a gate when law enforcement officers approached him with an arrest warrant. Subsequently, another video emerged showing him being forcefully apprehended, handcuffed, and transported by approximately four policemen into a waiting vehicle.

Amidst the chaos, a woman claiming to be the car dealer could be heard in the background, expressing anger and recounting how Portable allegedly threatened her when she demanded repayment of the debt. Hundeyin stated that the police anticipate the singer’s legal representatives to appear on Wednesday morning, adding that the possibility of court proceedings hinges on the outcome of discussions with his lawyers. This incident marks not the first encounter between the singer and law enforcement. In April 2023, Portable was arrested by the police in Ogun State and subsequently charged with five counts related to purported assault and theft at the Ifo Magistrate Court in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State. Following his arrest, he was detained at the Ilaro Correctional Centre but was later released after meeting the conditions for bail.
