The Anambra State police command has successfully captured Anichede Akachukwu, a notorious and long-sought-after cultist and armed robber from Uruagu village, Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area of the state.

According to a brief statement by the command’s spokesperson, Superintendent of Police Ikenga Tochukwu, the arrest was made possible through the implementation of a policing strategy focused on practical intelligence, technology, and tactical operations initiated by Commissioner of Police CP Nnaghe Obono Itam.

Anichede Akachukwu, aged 18, alias Star B, confessed to being a leader of the Vikings Secret Cult Confraternity and an armed gang that has been terrorizing Ogbaru LGA and Asaba in Delta State. His apprehension followed intelligence gathered while he was receiving treatment for a gunshot wound sustained during a clash with police operatives in Asaba.

The suspect has provided valuable information about the gang’s operations and the identities of other members, aiding the ongoing investigation.

Furthermore, on May 20, 2024, in Okija, Ihiala, police recovered a white Porsche Cayenne Jeep with registration number AGL 60 HJ Lagos, suspected to be the operational vehicle of the criminal syndicate operating in Ihiala. Upon searching the vehicle, operatives discovered twenty-seven pieces of live 7.62mm ammunition, three live cartridges, a flashlight, charms, and other incriminating items.

In light of these developments, the CP has urged operatives to maintain momentum and continue targeted operations to eradicate criminal elements and minimize crime in the state.
