Details have emerged regarding how the Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with the Lagos State Task Force, rounded up hundreds of residents and young individuals from the streets of the state on Friday and transported them to Osun State.
One of the youths, who stated that he was apprehended by Nigerian policemen at his workplace on Friday afternoon, recounted his experience to our reporters.
He explained that the law enforcement officers gathered young people from Ajah, TBS, and Island areas of the state, assembling them inside an unfinished building at the Makoko police station before relocating them to a forest in Ilesha town in Osun State.
According to him, approximately five luxury buses were filled with the youth and escorted to Osun State by policemen.
“We were apprehended around 10 pm yesterday, and they left us in Ilesha, Osun State, inside the bus, instructing us to leave, even threatening to use a firearm. Police officers arrested us, took us from Makoko police station to Elemoro, and from there, we were transported to Osun. We were numerous. It was about five luxury buses. They claimed we were arrested because they wanted us to return to our respective states.
“They detained people from Ajah, Ibeju Lekki, TBS, Agarawu, and Island. We were held inside an unfinished building within the cell.
“Police officers accompanied us. They were the ones who dropped us off in the forest. One of the officers wore a police uniform, while others wore Task Force jackets,” he elaborated.
As of press time, the Nigeria Police Force had not issued an official response to the incident.
