Mohammed Said Etsu, a former aspirant for the APC national chairmanship during the 2022 convention, has filed a lawsuit against former Kano state governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Working Committee (NWC), the National Executive Committee (NEC), and the APC party. Etsu is seeking an interlocutory injunction to restrain the embattled national chairman from presiding over the National Executive Committee, the National Working Committee, and any function pertaining to the office of the national chairman.
The lawsuit, bearing the number FHC/ABJ/CV/2258/2024, was filed on Monday, May 6th, at the Federal High Court in Abuja by Barrister Obona Obla. It is predicated on forty-one grounds of violations, one of which is the violation of the consensus candidacy agreed to be zoned to the North Central at the 2022 convention.
Documents obtained by ChroniclesReporters also reveal that the plaintiff is aggrieved due to the lack of the rule of law and the jettisoning of procedures outlined by the party’s supreme organ, the National Convention. These procedures include the replacement of a national officer, which stipulates that the State Executive Committee must propose a replacement and subsequently forward it to the National Executive Committee for approval.
