Adamu, a resident of Kano, was reported missing after receiving an urgent call from Sadiq.

Two days later, Adamu’s lifeless body was discovered in a secluded area in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano. Abdullahi Abubakar, Adamu’s younger brother, informed Daily Trust that Adamu had been at home around 12pm on Sunday, May 5, 2024, when he received a call from Sadiq regarding a job offer.

Abubakar stated that Adamu had been pursuing a job opportunity with assistance from someone and was optimistic about securing it. He recounted that Adamu asked his wife to fetch his car keys upon receiving the call and left to meet the caller. However, he never returned.

Following Adamu’s disappearance, his family traced his phone calls and discovered that his last conversation ended with the word “Alhamdulillah,” suggesting he had been deceived into believing the job offer was legitimate.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed that Zubairu had been apprehended, and investigations were ongoing.

In a statement, Kiyawa provided further details, stating that Adamu’s body was found near Bechi Village, and Sadiq Zubairu, along with two accomplices, had confessed to luring Adamu, assaulting him, and ultimately causing his death. The motive behind the crime was reportedly a fraudulent job offer that Adamu had paid three million naira for.

Hundreds of relatives and well-wishers gathered for Adamu’s burial in Gama B, expressing deep sorrow over the loss. Adamu’s brother expressed the family’s anguish, noting Adamu’s trust in Zubairu, who had previously worked with him.

KADECO claims he is not their staff

Sani Bala, spokesperson for KEDCO, expressed shock and sadness at Adamu’s passing, describing him as one of the company’s most diligent employees. While acknowledging Adamu’s association with Zubairu, Bala clarified that the incident was not related to their employment at KEDCO and is currently under police investigation.
