
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has disbursed a staggering sum of N6,316,621,045.37 billion among the six area councils in the FCT and various stakeholders as statutory allocation for March 2024, according to a statement signed by Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, the Special Adviser on Media to the FCT Minister of State.
This allocation represents a significant 40% increase from the previous month’s allocation of N3,938,092,102.92 billion in February 2024. Dr. Mahmoud, presiding over the 188th Joint Accounts Allocation Committee meeting, expressed satisfaction with the augmented allocation, urging area council authorities to invest in impactful projects beyond staff salaries.
“The allocation to the area councils as it stands today goes beyond payments of staff salaries. It is, therefore, high time for the chairmen to embark on people-oriented projects to justify the resources that go to the councils,” she emphasized.
A detailed breakdown of the allocation reveals that N3,814,043,951.50 billion was earmarked for distribution to the six area councils, while N2,502,577,093.87 billion was allocated to other critical stakeholders, totaling the N6,316,621,045.37 billion disbursed.
Among the area councils, the Abuja Municipal Area Council received N796,985,326.39 million, followed by Gwagwalada with N606,666,131.20 million and Kuje Area Council with N635,903,823.41 million. Bwari, Abaji, and Kwali Area Councils received allocations in similar proportions, totaling N3,814,043,951.50 billion disbursed to the six area councils.
Additionally, allocations to other stakeholders include N2,115,855,089.92 billion for Primary School Teachers, N226,478,989.57 million for Pension Funds, N52,394,108.75 million for Training Funds, and N107,849,405.63 million for Employer Pension Contribution, making up the N2,502,577,093.87 billion allocated.
