A group of armed men has abducted Archbishop Uka Uka Osim of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, a prominent figure in Anambra State.

The abduction took place on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, during a journey to Awka, the capital of Anambra State, for evangelical purposes. Archbishop Osim’s wife, Anne Osim, their son Roland Uka Osim, and three other clergy members of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star, Azuka Ochu, Moses Okafor, and Anderson Akwazie, were also taken by the gunmen.

The administrator of the spiritual organization in Abia State, BCS, Bishop Denis Onuoha, confirmed their abduction, expressing concern over the lack of communication from the kidnappers four days after the incident. He expressed faith that divine intervention would assist in their safe release.

Efforts by our reporters to reach the spokesperson of the state police command, Chinaka Chioma Maureen, for comment were unsuccessful, as repeated calls made to her went unanswered at the time of filing this report.
