The incident happened at about 4 pm along Mabushi and Berger expressway when a truck loaded with beer veered off the road after the driver lost control.
On Tuesday in Abuja, residents treated themselves to free beers when the truck fell over a few meters away from the popular Berger roundabout. Shortly after the accident, passersby and motorists were seen helping themselves to bottles of beer, gathering around the truck.
The incident attracted some of Abuja’s ‘Big Boys’ with exotic cars and SUVs, who hurriedly pulled over to join in the ‘feast’. The scene almost turned into a carnival as dispatch riders and Bolt and Uber drivers temporarily suspended their trips to partake. Many residents were seen going home with crates of beer, while others brought buckets to fill up.
The management of the company ordered the driver to allow people to drink the content to avoid wastage. Some road safety officers were on standby to tow the truck away. No lives were lost in the incident.
