Major Ag Mohammed, the Nigerian Army Commander of 17 Brigade, Operation Hadarin Daji, met his demise at the hands of terrorists in Katsina State.

Katsina, the home state of former President Muhammadu Buhari, became the site of this tragic incident.

According to security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, Major Mohammed, serving as the commander of Operation Hadarin Daji, covering Yantumaki, Dan Ali, and Kankara axes, fell victim to a terrorist ambush on Thursday.

The late commander was ambushed at Malali village in the Kankara Local Government Area, where he had been called to provide reinforcement against terrorists who had reportedly seized control of the area.

The loss of Major Ag Mohammed, described as one of the most gallant, courageous, and highly dedicated officers, is deeply saddening. He paid the ultimate price while combatting bandits in the North West of Katsina state.

Makama expressed condolences, acknowledging the sacrifices made by many gallant officers and soldiers in the face of Boko Haram insurgents, banditry, and other insecurities.

Despite this tragedy, the Public Relations Officer of the 17 Brigade in Katsina, Oiza Ehinlaidlye, has yet to issue an official statement regarding the commander’s death.”
