Former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani has called for the demolition of a Chinese supermarket in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, allegedly for barring Nigerians from shopping there.
Reports surfaced claiming that the management of the supermarket, located at the China General Chamber of Commerce along Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Road in Abuja, instructed security personnel not to allow Nigerians into the facility. This development has sparked outrage among concerned citizens, who are urging the Nigerian government to compel the supermarket to admit Nigerian shoppers.
Shehu Sani joined the conversation, asserting that the establishment should be demolished in accordance with the country’s laws. In a post on his official handle on Monday, Sani questioned why a supermarket in Nigeria would deny access to its citizens.
Expressing his stance on the matter, Sani stated, “Any supermarket in our country that restricts access to Nigerian citizens but welcomes foreigners should either be forcefully opened or demolished in accordance with our laws.”
