The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has attributed the ongoing fuel scarcity to logistical challenges.

Long queues have reappeared at petrol stations in Abuja and several states, including Nasarawa, Gombe, and Anambra, due to the recent shortage of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.

In recent days, the scarcity has caused a surge in the price of petrol at filling stations, leading to increased transportation costs and leaving many commuters stranded in affected areas.

While there have been reports suggesting that the scarcity resulted from fuel shortages, the NNPC Ltd. clarified the situation. In a statement released on Thursday and signed by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, the NNPC Ltd. explained that the tight supply of PMS experienced in some regions was due to logistical issues, which have since been resolved.

The NNPC Ltd. also emphasized that the prices of petroleum products remain unchanged and urged Nigerians to refrain from panic buying, as there is an adequate supply of products in the country.
