In a proactive move to combat the rising challenges of kidnapping and insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Governor Nyesom Wike has allocated 100 motorcycles to security agents across various agencies.

The breakdown of the distribution reveals a strategic approach to bolstering security efforts. The Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) received the lion’s share with 60 motorcycles, distributed evenly among the six area councils. Additionally, the police department received 30 motorcycles, while the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) each received five.

Underlining the significance of local involvement in security efforts, each Area Council chairman will oversee the allocation of 10 motorcycles to vigilante groups within their jurisdiction. This decentralized approach ensures a community-driven response to security challenges.

Today marked a pivotal moment as Hon. Abubakar Jibrin Giri, in his capacity as Chairman, distributed motorcycles to various vigilante stations across Gwagwalada Area Council. This initiative underscores the commitment of local leaders to collaborate with state and federal authorities in safeguarding communities.

The concerted efforts of Governor Wike, the FCT Minister, and local leaders demonstrate a united front against insecurity. As the motorcycles are deployed to enhance surveillance and response capabilities, stakeholders express gratitude for the commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the FCT.
