In a recent court development, socialite and businessman Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, was granted bail in the sum of N10 million by the Federal High Court in Lagos State.

The bail, accompanied by two sureties, was awarded after Cubana Chief Priest pleaded not guilty to charges of tampering and abusing the nation’s currency during a social event.

The arraignment, presided over by Justice Kehinde Ogundare, followed allegations brought forth by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing Cubana Chief Priest of spraying Naira notes during a social gathering at Eko Hotel on February 13, 2024.

The charges, constituting three counts, are based on violations of the Central Bank Act of 2007.

Earlier reports indicated Cubana Chief Priest’s arrival at the Federal High Court for arraignment, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing legal proceedings.

The EFCC asserts that Cubana Chief Priest spent approximately two hours spraying Naira notes, specifically in the denomination of N500, thereby allegedly tampering with funds issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
