In the midst of ongoing debates regarding the alleged disobedience of a court order concerning the attempted arrest of former Kogi State Governor, Mr. Yahaya Adoza Bello, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has firmly denied any violation of court directives in this matter.

In a press statement issued by the EFCC’s Acting Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, the Commission emphasized that while Bello pursued relief through a fundamental rights enforcement action granted by Justice Isa Jamil Abdulallahi of the Kogi State High Court, this order did not negate or invalidate a separate order from the Federal High Court for Bello’s arrest in relation to his arraignment.

Uwujaren clarified that the Kogi State High Court’s order solely aimed to uphold Bello’s personal liberty and freedom of movement, without impeding the Federal High Court’s authority to make determinations in the ongoing criminal case.

He underscored the EFCC’s unwavering commitment to prosecuting politically exposed individuals and urged Bello to cooperate with the Commission in addressing the charges brought against him.

Uwujaren called upon all patriotic Nigerians to stand in solidarity with the EFCC in its tireless efforts to combat corruption, assuring that the Commission remains resolute in its mission to eradicate corrupt practices from the nation.
