In a startling revelation, the Lagos State Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force has been compelled to refund N100,000 illegally obtained from Mr. Rahmon Olamilekan Adekunle, a recent returnee from Cyprus. The incident, marked by corruption at its core, unfolded in the early hours of Friday at the tunnel in Berger, a vital link connecting the bustling Magodo area in Lagos.

Reports indicate that corrupt police officers forcefully halted Mr. Adekunle during his journey and shamelessly extorted the sum from him. However, justice swiftly followed the outcry sparked by Adekunle Taofeeq, the vigilant Lagos Coordinator of the Take It Back Movement. Taofeeq’s proactive approach saw him lodging a formal complaint with the Police Public Relations Officer, prompting media attention and public outrage.

In a commendable display of accountability, the Lagos State Police Command wasted no time in rectifying the wrongdoing. Mr. Rahmon Olamilekan Adekunle confirmed the receipt of the refunded N100,000, expressing profound gratitude to the Take It Back Movement for exposing the egregious act of extortion. Adekunle attested that following the publication of the incident, police authorities swiftly reached out, assuring him that the culprits had been identified and the ill-gotten gains recovered.

In a stern response, the Police Public Relations Officer, Hundeyin, voiced his disappointment and condemnation of the officers’ misconduct. Emphasizing the gravity of their actions, Hundeyin pledged severe disciplinary measures against the errant personnel. He lauded the swift intervention of Taofeeq, acknowledging that timely reporting of such incidents plays a pivotal role in eradicating corruption within the police force.
