Renowned personality and influencer, Idris Okuneye, widely recognized as Bobrisky, has taken legal action by filing a notice of appeal to contest his conviction on four counts of currency mishandling.

The Notice of Appeal, submitted by his attorney, Bimbo Kusanu, requests the Court of Appeal to overturn the six-month imprisonment sentence and substitute it with a fine of N50,000 per count.

Previously, a Federal High Court in Lagos had handed Bobrisky a six-month jail term without the option of a fine for mishandling currency.Bobrisky’s arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Lagos was confirmed by the agency’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, who clarified that the arrest was related to currency mutilation, not his lifestyle.

Similarly, another prominent Nigerian figure, Pascal Okechukwu, known as Cubana Chief Priest, faced charges for the same offense and was recently granted bail of N10 million with two sureties in like sum after pleading not guilty.
