We, the torchbearers of the Take It Back Movement and the fearless Gwagwalada Youth, raise our voices today, not merely to express concern, but to declare a call for action – action that will usher in a new era for Gwagwalada Area Council. We stand united with the people, demanding immediate action to address the pivotal issues that plague our community and obstruct the path of progress.

1. Gwagwalada Market Road: A Road to Redemption
Gwagwalada Market Road, once a lifeline, now lies in ruins, strangling local businesses and burdening the very people it should serve. The path to redemption must begin with the reconstruction of this vital artery. We, as citizens of Nigeria, assert our right to free movement, as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution, and we call for the prompt restoration of this fundamental right. The old ways have crumbled; it is time for a new dawn.

“Every citizen of Nigeria is entitled to move freely throughout Nigeria and to reside in any part thereof, and no citizen of Nigeria shall be expelled from Nigeria or refused entry thereby or exit therefrom.” – Nigerian Constitution (Chapter IV, Section 41)

2. Gwagwalada Town Hall: Unleash the Heart of Our Community
The Gwagwalada Town Hall, shrouded in a cloak of neglect for over a decade, yearns to awaken. It remains half-born, unable to fulfill its purpose as a hub for community engagement. It is the people’s space, a place to cultivate ideas, celebrate traditions, and build unity. The Gwagwalada Area Council must hasten the completion of the Town Hall. The voices of the people, echoing in the chambers of democracy, beckon for their sanctuary.

“The security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.” – Nigerian Constitution (Chapter II, Section 14(2)(b))

3. Financial Transparency: Illuminating the Path Ahead
Our rights as citizens, embedded within the Nigerian Freedom of Information Act, demand transparency and accountability. The shadows that obscure the workings of the Gwagwalada Area Council must dissipate. We seek clarity on the contracts and records of those who undertook the Gwagwalada Market Road and Town Hall projects. We demand to know the sources of revenue that fuel the Area Council and how these funds have been allocated. This quest for transparency is not merely a request; it is a directive issued by the Nigerian Constitution for good governance and accountability.

“The press, radio, television and other agencies of the mass media shall at all times be free to uphold the fundamental objectives contained in this Chapter and uphold the responsibility and accountability of the Government to the people.” – Nigerian Constitution (Chapter II, Section 22)

The Time for Change Is Now:
We are not here to merely voice our grievances; we are here to herald a new era. The next seven days are pivotal. They signify the time within which Gwagwalada Area Council can seize the opportunity to transform our community, ushering in a new dawn where the people’s rights are upheld, public spaces are reclaimed, and governance is transparent.

In unity and determination, we call upon the Gwagwalada Area Council to take immediate and comprehensive action. Failure to do so will awaken the spirit of the Gwagwalada youth in a mass uprising. We extend our hand in collaboration, and we await your swift response.

The people of Gwagwalada are awakening, and we shall no longer be silent. A new era dawns, and the revolution is at hand.

Sincerely,

Manasseh B.P
For the Take It Back Movement, Gwagwalada
