The Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja has announced its intention to take disciplinary action against armed police officers who were captured in a viral video escorting the President of the Adamawa State University Students’ Union Government.
This move comes in response to widespread criticism on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter), where the video of the armed officers accompanying the newly elected Students’ Union Government president surfaced. The video, originally posted by The Nation on X, depicts the SUG president’s arrival at a convention with two armed policemen walking alongside his car. In the video, other students can be seen cheering and hailing him, with one student even opening the car door for the SUG president as the vehicle came to a stop.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, responded to the video on X, confirming that the policemen involved have been identified and have been instructed to report to the Force Headquarters for further action. He stressed the police force’s commitment to maintaining high standards of conduct, stating, “There is no room for indecency, complacency, and unethical conduct within the Nigeria Police Force.”
