In a distressing turn of events, a Nigerian Air Force officer, ACM Shuaibu Umar Bashir, has been kidnapped by a group of terrorists along Birnin Gwari Road in Niger State. The officer’s family has revealed that the terrorists have issued a chilling demand for a N10 million ransom to be paid within a mere three-day timeframe.
According to SaharaReporters learnt from family sources, ACM Bashir was en route to his duty station, poised to resume his service responsibilities, when he fell victim to the shocking abduction.
Relatives and concerned parties are expressing deep concern over the situation, citing a lack of prompt engagement from both the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) authorities and the military at large. Despite the urgency of the situation, no substantial efforts seem to have been made by the military to secure the officer’s release.
“He was kidnapped on Sunday, and the military appears not to be acting enough to get him out,” lamented one source closely connected to the family, revealing the distressing ordeal faced by the abducted officer’s loved ones.
Amid the mounting anxiety and apprehension, the NAF has yet to issue an official response or provide any statement regarding the troubling incident. The officer’s abduction has heightened concerns about the security situation and the safety of those serving in vital roles within the country.
As the deadline looms for the demanded ransom, the nation watches with bated breath, hopeful for swift and effective action to ensure the safe return of ACM Shuaibu Umar Bashir, and demanding an intensified commitment from authorities to secure the lives of those who dedicate themselves to the protection and well-being of Nigeria.
