In a devastating accident on Tuesday, a traditional ruler lost his life after a truck collided with the tricycle he was commuting in. Chronicles reporters gathered that the truck struck the tricycle, resulting in the instant death of Abraham Bankole, the esteemed Olu of Onibuku in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State. Fortunately, the tricycle driver and another passenger managed to escape unhurt from the collision.

The tragic incident occurred on the Ota-Idiroko expressway, near Winners Chapel. According to reports, the truck with registration number EPE 252 XF hit the tricycle while the monarch was disembarking.

Florence Okpe, the spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun State, confirmed being informed of the accident on Tuesday. However, she is yet to receive a comprehensive briefing from the FRSC unit in Ota.

A traditional ruler from Ogun West senatorial district, who preferred to remain anonymous, also verified the incident. Expressing shock over the fact that the third-class traditional ruler was commuting in a tricycle, the news of the tragedy has sent ripples of sorrow across the community.

It remains unclear whether the deceased had access to a car or chose to use a tricycle due to the recent hike in the pump price of petrol. The body of the revered monarch has been taken to the morgue of General Hospital, Ota, as investigations continue into the heartbreaking accident.
