Sources within the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have revealed that Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the party, has tendered his resignation. The resignation, which was reportedly submitted on Sunday, comes as Adamu anticipated a potential ousting from office.
Elected as the national chairman of the ruling party during the March 2022 national convention, Adamu sent his resignation letter to President Bola Tinubu while the latter was attending the African Union (AU) meeting in Kenya. The letter was received by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.
“It was not a surprise; he took preemptive action to avoid a potential humiliation. It has been evident for some time that he would not survive,” revealed an anonymous source within the party’s NWC when contacted by SaharaReporters on Monday morning.
Upon being contacted, Adamu neither confirmed nor denied the reports. After listening to our reporter, he ended the call without uttering a word.
