In a shocking incident, an 18-year-old boy from Kutunku, Gwagwalada, Abuja, has been apprehended for allegedly attempting to kidnap a 7-year-old girl. The exact location where the incident took place is still unknown. The incident came to light through a trending video where the suspect, surrounded by angry residents, confessed to his sinister intentions.
The suspect, tied up and under interrogation, revealed that a herbalist had instructed him to abduct a young child to obtain charms for success in the practice known as ‘yahoo plus.’ When asked why he did not involve his own sister, he replied, “My sister is my sister. I couldn’t involve her. I had to target the girl who lives nearby. I attempted to kidnap her on three different occasions but failed. This time, her vigilant uncle caught me in the act and raised an alarm.”
The boy further disclosed that he chose to pursue ‘yahoo plus’ rather than regular ‘yahoo’ activities due to the allure of greater financial gains. He claimed to have been inspired by his friends who had undertaken the same ritual and had become wealthy millionaires.
This disturbing incident highlights the dangerous impact of ‘yahoo plus’ practices and underscores the urgent need to address such criminal activities. Efforts must be made to apprehend not only the suspect but also those involved in promoting these harmful practices. It is essential to prioritize the safety and protection of children and work collectively to combat such criminal acts.
Law enforcement agencies and communities must remain vigilant and take proactive measures to prevent and respond to crimes targeting innocent children. Education and awareness campaigns can help shed light on the dangers associated with these practices and discourage individuals from engaging in illegal and harmful activities.
