New tenants abscond with neighbor’s two children in Abuja Inhabitants of the Bako area, situated in the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, are still grappling with the inexplicable vanishing of two siblings from the neighborhood on Wednesday.
According to reports by chroniclesreporters, two women who recently acquired an apartment in the area have fled with their neighbor’s children—a five-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy. This incident has left the community bewildered, while the anguished parents of the children are currently taking determined steps to locate the fleeing women and recover their beloved ones.
Unfortunately, as of the time this article was filed on Thursday, these efforts have not yielded any positive outcomes. Per information gathered by our correspondent, the trouble began when two-year-old Marwan started crying while his mother was engrossed in her prayers. After the mother concluded her prayers, she patiently awaited the return of the tenants and the children, but to no avail.
As the waiting game seemed endless, a sense of alarm gripped the woman, prompting her to raise her voice in distress. Together with concerned neighbors, she scoured the vicinity, but neither the children nor their new neighbor could be found. According to chroniclesreporters, one of the new tenants, identified as Godiya, cunningly offered to carry the little boy, citing her desire to prevent Marwan from distracting his mother during her prayers. However, when the crying persisted, Godiya took both the boy and his elder sister, Hauwa, with her, claiming that she intended to buy biscuits for the children. Tragically, she never returned. The mother experienced an overwhelming shock when agitated neighbors decided to forcibly enter the new tenants’ room, only to discover it completely empty. This strongly implies that the two new tenants orchestrated the abduction, absconding with their few belongings and the children.
Dauda Saliu, the father of the missing children, conveyed to chroniclesreporters that the ladies had moved into a one-room apartment in the vicinity just two weeks prior. Saliu expressed unease about the situation, noting that Godiya had been showering his children with gifts. However, due to the demands of his job, which often kept him away from home for the better part of the day, he was unable to intervene effectively. The troubled father revealed, “I was not at home when the incident occurred. It happened around 6 pm yesterday (Wednesday).
While their mother was praying, the youngest child was crying, and one of the ladies took them under the pretense of buying biscuits for them. Other community members saw my children with one of them, but they did not suspect anything since she was always playing with them.” “As time went on without their return, my wife called out to the ladies and knocked on their door, but there was no response.
She reached out to other neighbors who ultimately broke into their room, only to find it empty.” “I had always been wary of one of them frequently buying biscuits and drinks for my children, and I voiced my concerns. However, due to the nature of my job as a security guard, which often takes me away from home, my warnings fell on deaf ears. If only they had heeded my words, this unfortunate incident could have been prevented.” “The ladies are new to the community, and we only know the name of one of them who introduced herself as Godiya. It is deeply painful that this has happened to me.” Saliu also expressed his disappointment that their attempts to obtain information about the ladies from the landlord proved fruitless. “We immediately contacted the landlord when the incident occurred in the hopes of tracing them, but he does not possess their details. He informed us that they had yet to complete the necessary forms. Presently, we are at the Bako Police Station, reporting the matter,” he added.
When approached for comment, SP Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, stated that she had not been briefed on the matter.
