Honorable Olatunde Adebanji was a prominent political leader who made notable contributions to the political sphere of Oyo State. He began his political journey as a member of NADECO in 1995, an organization known for advocating democracy during Nigeria’s military rule.

Between 1999 and 2003, he served on the Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue under the administration of Dr. Lam Adesina of the Alliance for Democracy (AD).

In 2003, Hon. Adebanji joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and was appointed Special Adviser to Governor Christopher Alao Akala from 2007 to 2011. During this period, he also represented Oyo State at the PDP national level from 2007 to 2014. Earlier in the year, he contested for the governorship position in Oyo State, marking another significant step in his political career.

Tragically, Hon. Adebanji was killed on July 5, 2014, in front of his home in the Oke Ado area of Ibadan after returning from a political meeting. His death was a devastating blow to the political community and the people of Oyo State, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and service.
